Our Superhero SPE Teachers & Staff give so much every day—and sometimes they just need a little pick-me-up! To show our appreciation, the PTA is launching a monthly snack drive to help keep the teacher’s lounge stocked with yummy treats and drinks.
How it works:
Each month, a different grade level will help lead the drive.
For October, it’s Kindergarten families’ turn!
-
A–K families: send in snacks (individually wrapped items like chips, granola/protein bars, trail mix, dried fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt, etc.)
-
L–Z families: send in drinks (canned sodas, iced coffee, bottled tea, K-cups, etc.)
Drop-off: A shopping cart will be out front during drop-off and pick-up for easy collection.

This is completely optional, but if you’re looking for a fun way to support our teachers, this is a great one!
Upcoming Snack Drive Schedule:
November – 1st Grade
January – 2nd Grade
February – 3rd Grade
March – 4th Grade
April – 5th Grade
Thank you for helping us keep our amazing teachers fueled and feeling appreciated!

Level 1 vs Level 2 Volunteer Status
Want to volunteer at San Pablo or with your student? All volunteers at SPE (and all DCPS schools) must have a cleared background check—whether you’re reading in the classroom or chaperoning a field trip.
New for This Year:
Level 1: FREE
Level 2: $74.50
Level 1: These are volunteers who are always under the direct supervision of district staff and are never alone with students.
Level 2: These are volunteers who may be out of direct view of staff or responsible for supervising students, such as chaperones, and includes all field trips.
More details on the volunteer policy and how to check your status are available at the DCPS Volunteer Portal (link below).
Plan Ahead: Applications take 5–10 business days to process. (However, are taking 3-4 weeks currently with a high influx in applications.) Please allow enough time before your event or field trip for approval.
